I can hardly believe that it's been a little over 4 months since I set foot on California soil, with none other than my car and whatever else could fit in it. By far this move has been everything I wanted it to be and yet, everything I didn't expect it to be! I craved a life-changing adventure, full of unpredictability and new experiences. At first, it seemed to be one hurdle after another. Almost a test, to see if my boyfriend and I were strong enough to handle adversity. First it was my car. I'll never forget the panic that set in when my dashboard completely shut down as we were going over 65 mph on the freeway. Luckily, an exit was up ahead and we were able to pull over to safety before it completely broke down. Then it was my job. I won't go into details, but I learned that being a personal assistant wasn't in the cards for me, and that's okay.

I've since learned how to live with less and avoid the temptations of shopping when I really couldn't afford to. I've learned that you do get what you pay for when it comes to cheap shampoo! {My hair surely misses my Redken products!} And that even though I never thought I could, I can bike 30 miles in a single day, even if my legs are going to feel like jell-o after.
The journey hasn't been an easy one. But it hasn't been impossible. For every roadblock, a thousand good things followed it. Now that I'm freelancing, things are slowly turning a corner, and we both know we're 100% accountable for our success out here. And with all that said, I cannot, cannot! wait for the months to come, and am thankful for all of your support!
Regular blog posts will resume starting this week.

moving across country is a big deal! you seem to be making the most of it even with the craziness that has occured. i hope nothing but good continues to come your way!
So glad you're loving your new life so far! Here's to another great four months! :)
What a BEAUTIFUL montage here! I love the surprise of a little post about your journey.
I think it's good the journey hasn't been just about good things. Strife and unexpected roadblocks are what makes the sweet just that sweeter and the story of your life that much richer. Though, I am very glad that you got off the highway safely, that would scare the becheesus out of me too!!!
Beautiful pictures and biking for 30 miles on the beach sounds nothing short of perfect right now (it's snowing outside).
ps new header looks great! I've been thinking of redoing mine lately, this is nice inspiration.

Wow! I'm glad things are looking up for you. You were really courageous to have moved across the country, with all of your stuff in a tiny car!

It sounds like a wonderful adventure, broken car and all. And I'm with you on the personal assistant thing- tried it once and it was so far from being a good fit for me.
Sounds like you've been through a lot over the past few months... I guess that's part of growing up right? :)
Hope things keep coming together. :)
That's awesome! Sounds like quite the adventure.
best of luck,

aaand, don't worry... i was once told that i could never be someone's personal assistant. at first i took it personally, but then i realized they were right. guess i'm more of the "HAVE a personal assistant" type. if only :)

It's so encouraging to read this post! You're so right, with a few set backs we really jump ahead 10 leaps. Sounds to me you've learned a great deal about yourself, your relationship with the Mr. and your capabilities. Great job keeping positive and not letting life's twists and turns get you down :)

I'm glad things are starting to fall into place for you, Kinsey! I'm always so impressed with people who take big chances (like moving across the country!). What kind of freelance work are you doing? I've been thinking about leaving my job and taking the plunge, but I'm nervous!
